SUN AND SEA: DAYBREAK
As you look at the sky at daybreak
you will see some pastel colours
driving away the darkness
and enthrone themselves regally on the chariot
that pulls the Sun King.
The rose colour mingles with green
and slowly
their place is taken by the sky’s blue.
And in this kaleidoscope
Overflowing with the colours of the rainbow
somewhere in the distant skyline
a point shines in gold
and the spiky rays appear through
like spears
piercing the light of day
to mellow with the yellow
of warmth and hope.
One ray succeeds the next
and they tangle like a shing wreath
until the body of the King,
round like a hubcap
is unveiled naked,
and with unhurried footsteps
as if in a procession
it is enthroned in the abundant,
clear sky of my country.
