LONGING
To be horizon
plain
hope
finite
To be rock
that sustains imbalances
sky
that harbors chaos
silver seas
To be the beautiful and the horrible
what engenders desires
and snatches butterflies
To be an island for castaways
unicorn for unbelievers
grave for your secrets
To be the one who gets up every day
handing out gifts
undoing undone
waiting for hopes
To be the dolce in the apartment
the dawn in the house
the desire in the streetcar
the cat on the roof
To be many things and none of them entirely
chicken without egg
dove without peace
roof without tin
dinner without Judas
traitor without a homeland
lover without roots
wandering beloved
erring in itself
To be the one who doesn’t know who she really is
the one who ignores her place
and wonders every day
who she should love
where to reach
those arms
those hands
those fingers
full of hope
that longs for
another world
another calm
another peace
without guilt
or shame
or pain in love
