What was it that was eaten? What was it that was drunk? What was it that they wore to talk with god? How many steps did it take to make the forest theirs? How long did it take to learn to speak? To learn to draw? To learn to write? How much was lost to the wind and waves and angry earth? How much was lost to religion and superstition? How much was lost to war?
