Shirley Cravotta

REQUIEM FOR THE LIVING

The Dead are always with us.

In our heads.

In our hearts.

Buried deep within our bones.

In garden and in greenwood

we walk among them.

Their voices whisper in the wind

and mute stones.

They haunt our Great Halls

and humble homes.

From Dusk to Dawn, all of our days,

we are never, ever alone.

Shirley Cravotta is a Long Island native and recipient of an Editor’s Choice Award from the National Library of Poetry.  Her work has been featured in several anthologies.
