SUMMER SYMPHONY

Once a week the mowers arrive

to disturb the air currents and trim

the green beard of the grass.

I stay grounded with the cat

sitting in the easy chair

that hugs the roundness of our bodies.

Is earth the only garden of the universe,

are there other orbs as beautiful

in need of tending?

How lucky we are to hear the slow machines

and smell the chlorophyll split blood cells.

Time stops and drifts through the windows

filling the day and the corners of the room

with summer.

Glenn Garamella is a poet living in Huntington with his family.  His book of poems “A Need To Fill” was published in 2021. He is a daily meditator and student of Eastern Spirituality.
