Tammy Nuzzo-Morgan

IT IS SUDDENLY SUMMER

It is suddenly summer and I wonder how did the summers slip by without me embracing longer the shoreline, the sun, the sand, the sound of gulls.

It is suddenly summer and I regret all past summers, springs, falls, along with winters when I would burrow into myself, my books, my he’s-not-the-one, my poems.

It is suddenly summer and I seem to have lost a step, and sense the winding down of things I thought would always be at my fingertip, on the tip of my tongue, in the corner of my eye.

It is suddenly summer, and I wonder just how I will die one day. Will it be in daylight, when a full moon is visible in a cloudless sky?

Tammy Nuzzo‑Morgan is a dedicated and accomplished poet whose work is marked by a compelling love of language and a generous creative spirit.
