MELTING THE ICE
I
Procession of the melting of the ICE
Invective, scapegoating, straw men are built
Fallacious are these tropes of fascist vice
They, never prone to admit to their guilt
Clenching our fists, we want autonomy
Auspicious, we will seize our rights to live
Imploding the global economy
A blow to human bonding, can’t forgive
And still I protest within my notepads
Writing the verses no one can ignore
Don’t need to measure worth like my gonads
Can I think of a better metaphor?
Now falling to the floor, now fresh water
Attacking every child, son, and daughter
II
And as the floods relinquish our treasure
Our wealth in spirit, bankrupted, bereft
Eradication of earthly pleasure
Ignoring sensibilities, mind theft
Longing for my security to stay
Hoping my choices do not get premade
Everyone runs to be his protege
I’m not marching in that fucking parade
So therefore, I’m protective of my lair
Keeping a knife nearby as I slumber
Can’t have big government inside my hair
This country continues to get dumber
And so, for civil liberties, I yearn
These troglodytes will never ever learn
III
Slave plantations and concentration camps
Revisited by jailing immigrants
Worst qualities are getting rubber stamps
Voters will have cognitive dissonance
So long as we’re complacent, we’ll be dead
We must stand up and rise above the hate
They will hunt us by guns and infrared
Rallying cries we will expectorate
Won’t let a dictator get his own way
Won’t let this bastard drain our oases
We can’t wait for tomorrow, cuz today
Our rulers disappear in diocese
No more corruption, fuck these derelicts
We’re proud to be progressive heretics
