LIGHTS, CAMERAS…
Lights, cameras, smile…hide who you really are
for they might find out what lies beneath the facade
of your beauty, perfection, and charm
Fame and fortune was the dream born long ago
now that it’s here it’ll all so elusive,
the fear of losing what was achieved makes its enjoyment so fleeting
Lights, cameras, smile…who are you really but a figment of other’s desires,
fantasies that have created the persona you must fulfill,
for their entertainment and pleasure, not your own
This life of stardom, there’s nothing like it, with its privileges,
it’s advantages others yearn for, it feels so superior, alluring, yet has its drawbacks,
it’s a prison at times
Lights, cameras, smile…don’t let them see inside,
the you that wants to be set free that longs for a time you could just be,
without impersonating the make believe
No more lights, cameras, no more pretending
the long way home is here…just smile,
…for you alone.
