Richard Bronson
JONES BEACH ‘58
We strapped on steel quads,
raced onto the concrete rink,
and hand-in-hand
cruised the summer night away
to the sounds of Frankie Avalon
and the Everly Brothers.
A mist off the sea touched our skin –
bare arms and legs –
and we laughed,
while the surf rushed
along rock jetties.
Franks and fries our diet,
we lived for the moment,
and on the beach
beyond the flood-lit boardwalk,
couples strolled into darkness
toward the breaking sea.
