Randy Fowler

SHATTERED

The poet reads – SMASH.

shards everywhere

in corners, under cabinets

embedded in the rug.

Must clean up my room; look

around and pick up each piece,

careful not to cut myself.

How fast can I fix my window?

The poet walks into my house

through the gaping rectangle;

she leads me by the hand

to the open frame.

Torrential rains drum

fierce winds blow

tree branches are breaking.

A hurricane?

I’m going to build a clear window

to replace my dark glass.

Randy Fowler, known as The Passionate Poet, began writing occasional poems for funerals, birthdays, and special occasions, but in 2022 he was “bitten by the poetry bug” and has since written nearly one poem a day. His work reflects a deep commitment to capturing life’s moments in verse, transforming personal experiences into art that resonates with readers. Fowler’s prolific output and heartfelt approach embody his belief that poetry is not just a craft but a daily practice of connection and expression.
