Standing in breathless darkness
off Roslyn Harbor
a narrow grist mill,
A pictographic chiaroscuro.
A sketch in time.

Idyllically Kinkade-like,
this transformation of twilight
from sunset to sundown
questions if it is time to await Aurora
or contemplate constellations.

Sublimely gothic-like,
this trail of gold
bursting in value
of color characteristics
invites exploration of its environs.

A reminder of more modest times,
when a simple candle lit
created a gorgeous ray of glinted luster
and how, without a button pushed,
warmth and optimism
could fill a room.
