GOD

Is the silent part of me I do not understand.
Prayer courses through my body
from the tips of my toes
(sometimes leaks into my sneakers),
kicks behind my knees
and around the disintegration
of my hip bones,
gets a little lost between lungs
and kidneys,
flows accidently into my heart
through the cracks,
unclogs my carotid artery,
onto my tongue,
tastes like sea salt.

Most days prayer dries up
just short of my brain.
I wonder if God lives in my tears
and gets thrown away
with my used tissues.
