COMMEMORATIVE ISSUE SUMMER 2023

Claire Nicolas White

DENUDED

All things suspended now,
raped closets, drawers,
hidden secrets revealed,
the addresses of the dead
dateless, dust on the floors,
years uncounted, trees uprooted,
books disemboweled, tapes
of tunes forgotten, movies
of dreams once traveled, embraced,
stacked lumber, furious fires
reducing to ashes all valued clutter
clinging to things faded, folded,
that remain useless
as I wipe them, peel them,
scratch them away
to undo, empty
allow me to be
nowhere
no one
nun
me.
