Doe-Ann Powell

FERDUTZ

You yell you yell you yell

and I

in confusion

listen

listen

listening

to the rant of your

drumming

drum

drumming

voice

and I am listening

bewildered

as you keep

beating

beating

and

beat down

my

burdened

heart

A native of eastern Long Island for over 60 years, DOE-ANN POWELL’s poems have appeared in Portfolio (aka The Greenpoint Folio), The East Hampton Star, Long Island Quarterly 25th Silver Anniversary Anthology, Walt’s Corner of the Long Islander and Youtube. “Though I’m not a prolific writer,” she says, “I like to think that my poetry reflects personal relationships and East End living.”
