CHANGES

It’s different now.
though, the signs and structures
still are familiar,
yet these eyes have changed,
and so has the soul.

Trees are in the forest
and they grow so tall,
I’ve become more aware
that sometimes they fall.

These eyes are older
and often they’re softer,
discerning the stars
and the travails of this life.

There is uncertainty
about the next path
and a sense of foreboding
about life’s future steps.

Yes, trees are in the forest
and they grow so tall,
I’ve become more aware
that sometimes they fall.

Yet there’s one light that shines
and flashes the word empty.
There’s so much no doubt
about this journey of aging,
and the road signs are flashing,
they say Travel light.
