THREE POEMS

THE DANUBE/THE MOLDAU
Two rivers snake though the countryside
Wide rivers, unexpected until seen
Smetana composed music – the Moldau
Violins creating the current
That sends us on a journey
That winds us through the countryside
A romance of land and rivers
Where are you going rivers?
Will you take me with you?
Float me through Europe
Show me your people
Sing your song
Play your music

THE BEER POEM
A stein of Pilsner NRI
Golden yellow tint
Ready to sip and enjoy
The beautiful wheat color
LIfted for my first sip
Feel the cold sting on taste buds
This first taste like no other
The second taste better,
Every taste a symphony of ingredients
imagine more steins to swallow

TENTH FLOOR AT THE DON GIOVANNI HOTEL
I look across Vienna in early morning
The Danube with two bridges
Rght-angled cranes hover
Smoke stacks, church spires
A sleeping city

A few passing cars
Apartment buildings
Like any other city
Sculptures, fountains
Opera house, museums
Bicycles, scooters, motorcycles, walkers
A couple kissing by the river
On the hotel walls
Still photos from the movie Amadeus

1,000 year old churches with open doors
that look like inviting black holes
