Willie James King
THREE POEMS
SURVIVAL
A tiny lizard
knows to heave
leaves it’s under,
appear huge,
just to live.
IN MEMORY OF JOHN LEWIS
When I believe,
it’s like bleeding
so profusely,
no doctor
can stop
the blood.
GOSPEL OF GARDENING
It is sizzling.
It is said that
rain is on the
horizon. That
it may be
accompanied by
severe storms.
After thinking
about it for less
than a second,
My only re-
solve is,
bring the rain.
